Surah for Rizq and Wealth
10 Ways to Increase Rizq (Sustenance)
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
In these challenging times, especially with the global impact of Covid-19, many of us may be seeking ways to improve our financial situations. The Holy Qur’an, in Chapter 51, verse 58, reminds us that Allah (SWT) is Ar Razzaq, the One who grants and sustains.
Drawing from the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the wisdom of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his Ahlul Bayt, here are ten practical steps to enhance sustenance (rizq):
Sadaqa (Charity):
Imam Ali (AS) wisely stated that giving charity is a key to gaining more sustenance. When we give with an open heart, we obtain blessings in return.
Gratitude (Shukr):
Expressing continuous gratitude to Allah is emphasized in the Qur’an. The more thankful we are, the more blessings we receive (Qur’an 14:7).
Salat ul-Layl (Night Prayer):
Imam Sadiq (AS) highlighted the significance of Salat ul-Layl, stating it as sustenance for the day. This night prayer, consisting of 11 rakats, can be performed at any time during the night.
Istighfar (Seeking Forgiveness):
Seeking forgiveness is a Qur’anic prescription for increased sustenance. Allah promises abundance to those who plead for forgiveness (Qur’an 71:11-13).
Recitation of Specific Surahs:
Reciting Surah Waqiya (Chapter 56) every night.
Silat ur-Rahm (Maintaining Kinship):
Strengthening family ties (Silat ur-Rahm) has been mentioned in traditions as a means to increase sustenance and extend life.
Cleanliness and Personal Hygiene:
The Prophet (peace be upon him) emphasized purity. Maintaining Wudhu, cleanliness, and personal hygiene contribute to overall well-being.
Supplications and Recitations:
Scholars recommend specific recitations after each prayer, including Tasbeeh Fatima Al-Zahra, Ayatul Kursi, Surah Ikhlas, and salawat. Additionally, reciting Qur’anic verses from Chapter 65 can bring sustenance from unexpected sources.
Dua in Sajdah:
A powerful dua recommended by scholars is to recite “Ya khayr al-mas’uleen…” in Sajdah, seeking sustenance for oneself and family.
Additional Recommendations:
Other actions, such as being trustworthy, praying for others, reciting dhikr and Qur’an, performing daily prayers correctly, observing etiquette in various situations, and avoiding unnecessary speech in the bathroom, have all been mentioned in Hadith for increased sustenance.
In conclusion, while seeking increased sustenance, it’s crucial to balance material aspirations with contentment, supplication, and hope. Sometimes, what we perceive as beneficial may not align with Allah’s divine plan. May our efforts be guided by sincerity and a desire to attain Allah’s pleasure.
