The Arabic name of Surah Al-Qiyamah is القيامة. Al-Qiyamah means “The Resurrection”. The name comes from the first verse and also describes the subject, since the surah is devoted to the Resurrection. It is a Makki surah, revealed in Makkah before the Prophet’s migration to Madinah. Its content shows it to be one of the earliest surahs revealed in Makkah. In the revelation-order list used by quran.com, it is number 31 of 114. In the order of the Mushaf it comes after Surah Al-Muddaththir and before Surah Al-Insan.
The surah is devoted to the Resurrection and responds directly to those who refused to believe in it.
