The Arabic name of Surah Al-Munafiqun is المنافقون. Al-Munafiqun means “The Hypocrites”. This is both the name of the surah and its subject, as it reviews the conduct and attitude of the hypocrites. It belongs to the Madani surahs, the chapters revealed in Madinah after the Hijrah. In the revelation-order list used by quran.com, it is number 104 of 114. In the order of the Mushaf it comes after Surah Al-Jumu’ah and before Surah At-Taghabun.
The surah focuses on the hypocrites of Madinah and the incident that exposed their true attitude.
