About Surah Al-Mujadilah

The Arabic name of Surah Al-Mujadilah is المجادلة, also written Al-Mujadila. Al-Mujadila means “The Woman Who Pleads”. It refers to the woman, mentioned in the first verse, who brought her husband’s declaration of zihar to the Prophet and pleaded her case. It belongs to the Madani surahs, the chapters revealed in Madinah after the Hijrah. In the revelation-order list used by quran.com, it is number 105 of 114. In the order of the Mushaf it comes after Surah Al-Hadid and before Surah Al-Hashr.
