The Arabic name of Surah Al-Jumuah is الجمعة. Al-Jumu’ah means “Friday” or “The Congregation”. The name comes from verse 9, which mentions the call to prayer on Friday. It is a Madani surah, revealed after the Prophet’s migration to Madinah. In the revelation-order list used by quran.com, it is number 110 of 114. In the order of the Mushaf it comes after Surah As-Saf and before Surah Al-Munafiqun.
The surah’s two sections were revealed at different times, one reflecting on the history of earlier scripture and the other teaching the etiquette of Friday prayer.
