About Surah Al-Infitar
The Arabic name of Surah Al-Infitar is الإنفطار. Al-Infitar means “The Cleaving” or “The Splitting Apart”, referring to the sky splitting open, as mentioned in the first verse. It was revealed in Makkah, so it is counted among the Makki surahs. It is close in subject to At-Takwir, and the two were revealed at about the same time. In the revelation-order list used by quran.com, it is number 82 of 114. In the order of the Mushaf it comes after Surah At-Takwir and before Surah Al-Mutaffifin.

The surah describes the Day of Resurrection and reminds people that Allah’s generosity goes hand in hand with His justice.
