About Surah Al-Haaqah
The Arabic name of Surah Al-Haaqah is الحاقة, also written Al-Haqqah. Al-Haqqah means “The Reality” or “The Inevitable Truth”. The surah opens with this word, a name for the Day of Resurrection. It was revealed in Makkah, so it is counted among the Makki surahs. In the revelation-order list used by quran.com, it is number 78 of 114. In the order of the Mushaf it comes after Surah Al-Qalam and before Surah Al-Ma’arij.
Main Themes of Surah Al-Haaqah
An early Makkan surah, it combines a vivid description of the Day of Judgement with a firm statement about the truth of the Quran.
- The first section (verses 1–37) affirms that the Resurrection and the Hereafter will surely come.
- Past communities that denied the Hereafter eventually faced Allah’s punishment.
- On that Day each person’s record will be placed in their hand: those who lived aware of accountability will rejoice, while those who ignored the rights of Allah and of people will find no helper.
- The second section (verses 38–52) affirms that the Quran is revelation from Allah and that Muhammad is His true Messenger.
