The Arabic name of Surah At-Taghabun is التغابن. At-Taghabun is often translated “Mutual Loss” or, as quran.com puts it, “The Mutual Disillusion”. The name comes from verse 9, which gives this description to the Day of Judgement. quran.com lists it as Madani; its notes mention that some early scholars held that part of it was revealed in Makkah. In the revelation-order list used by quran.com, it is number 108 of 114. In the order of the Mushaf it comes after Surah Al-Munafiqun and before Surah At-Talaq.
The surah invites people to faith and good conduct, speaking first to all of humanity, then to those who reject the message, and finally to those who accept it.
