The Arabic name of Surah Al-'Adiyaat is العاديات, also written Al-’Adiyat. Al-’Adiyat means “The Chargers”, horses running at full speed (quran.com: “The Courser”). It is named after its first word. Scholars differ on whether it is Makki or Madani; quran.com lists it as Makki. Its style, the notes argue, points to a very early Makkan revelation. In the revelation-order list used by quran.com, it is number 14 of 114. In the order of the Mushaf it comes after Surah Az-Zalzalah and before Surah Al-Qari’ah.
The surah shows how heedlessness of the Hereafter corrupts a person and warns that hidden intentions will be revealed.
