The Arabic name of Surah Al-Jin is الجن, also written Al-Jinn. Al-Jinn means “The Jinn”. The name is also its subject: a group of jinn heard the Quran, believed in it, and returned to call their people. It was revealed in Makkah, so it is counted among the Makki surahs. In the revelation-order list used by quran.com, it is number 40 of 114. In the order of the Mushaf it comes after Surah Nuh and before Surah Al-Muzzammil.
The surah relates what a group of jinn said after hearing the Quran, and uses their words to teach clear lessons about Tawhid and prophethood.
