The Arabic name of Surah Al-Qadr is القدر. Al-Qadr means “Decree”, “Measure” or “Power”. The name comes from the first verse, which speaks of the Night of Qadr (Laylat al-Qadr). Scholars differ on whether it is Makki or Madani; quran.com lists it as Makki. In the revelation-order list used by quran.com, it is number 25 of 114. In the order of the Mushaf it comes after Surah Al-’Alaq and before Surah Al-Bayyinah.
The surah explains the value of the Quran by describing the blessed night in which it was sent down.
