The Arabic name of Surah Ad-Dukhan is الدخان. Ad-Dukhan means “The Smoke”. The name comes from the word dukhan, which appears in verse 10. It is a Makki surah, revealed in Makkah before the Prophet’s migration to Madinah. In the revelation-order list used by quran.com, it is number 64 of 114. In the order of the Mushaf it comes after Surah Az-Zukhruf and before Surah Al-Jathiyah.
