The Arabic name of Surah Al-Falaq is الفلق. Al-Falaq means “The Daybreak”. Together with An-Nas it is called Al-Mu’awwidhatayn, the two surahs of seeking refuge. Scholars differ on whether it is Makki or Madani; quran.com lists it as Makki. In the revelation-order list used by quran.com, it is number 20 of 114. In the order of the Mushaf it comes after Surah Al-Ikhlas and before Surah An-Nas.
The surah teaches the believer to seek refuge in Allah from outward harms.
